Project Overview
Tscreen is a smart home control panel concept designed to centralize everyday home interactions into a single, intuitive interface. The goal was to create a dashboard-style experience that allows users to quickly monitor and control essential home systems—lighting, climate, security, and appliances—without feeling overwhelmed by complexity. The design prioritizes clarity, accessibility, and at-a-glance usability for both tech-savvy users and everyday homeowners.
Goals
Design a clean, centralized interface for managing multiple smart home systems
Prioritize quick interactions and glanceable information
Create a modern, premium aesthetic suitable for a wall-mounted display
Ensure clear visual hierarchy across controls, statuses, and system feedback
Process
The project began with researching existing smart home panels and identifying common pain points, such as cluttered layouts and unclear control states. I mapped out user flows focused on the most frequent actions—adjusting temperature, toggling lights, checking security status, and accessing appliances.
Low-fidelity wireframes helped define layout structure and grouping, followed by high-fidelity designs in Figma. The interface was designed with large touch targets, rounded cards, and subtle depth to support ease of use on a physical display. Background imagery was intentionally softened to maintain focus on controls while preserving a sense of place within the home.
Key features explored:
Centralized home overview with time, weather, and location
Room-based lighting controls with clear on/off states
Multi-zone thermostat management
Quick-access security system status
Appliance control cards for everyday devices
Challenges
One of the main challenges was balancing visual richness with usability. Since the interface is meant to live on a wall-mounted screen, it needed to feel premium without sacrificing readability or interaction clarity. This was addressed through strong contrast, consistent iconography, and card-based layouts that clearly separate systems while maintaining a cohesive experience.
Outcome
Tscreen delivers a polished, intuitive smart home dashboard that simplifies complex systems into an approachable, user-friendly experience. The final design emphasizes clarity, hierarchy, and ease of interaction, demonstrating my ability to design system-heavy interfaces that remain visually calm and highly usable. The project highlights my strengths in product thinking, UI design, and creating experiences optimized for real-world use.
